Science: Our Key to a Better Future

The theme of the 2025 National Science Month, “Harnessing the Unknown: Powering the Future through Science and Innovation,” shows how important science is in building our future. Science is not just about experiments, it helps us solve problems in real life. It improves our health, transportation, communication, and even helps protect the environment. In the next few decades, science and society will become even more connected. As we face challenges like climate change and limited resources, we will need new ideas and inventions to make life better. Science gives us the tools to understand the world and find ways to improve it. We all have a role in using science for good. By supporting learning, creativity, and innovation, we can create a future where progress helps everyone and the world becomes a better place to live in.

Climate in The Tropics

Climate change is something I’ve seen and felt personally, not just heard about on the news. I’ve witnessed heavy rains flooding streets, destroying homes, and forcing families to evacuate. Sometimes the heat feels unbearable, and other times storms come so strong that it’s scary to even go outside. I realize that these sudden changes in the environment aren’t just natural—they’re also caused by how people treat the Earth. Cutting down trees, polluting rivers, and wasting resources all add up, and in the end, it’s us Filipinos who suffer most. But what amazes me is how resilient Filipinos are. Even after losing so much, people still find ways to smile, help each other, and rebuild. I’ve seen neighbors share food during floods and strangers lend a hand after a storm. That kind of strength and compassion makes me proud to be Filipino. For me, climate change is a reminder that we can’t keep ignoring our planet’s cries for help. It pushes me to be more mindful, to plant trees, save wa...

Intrams in ISNHS

Image
During our school event, my classmates and I came together to support Aleina in her dance sports performance. We cheered loudly as she stepped onto the stage. Seeing her perform so well made us all proud and reminded us how hard she had worked, practicing in between classes and trying to catch up with missed lesson, just to reach that moment. After her performance, we walked around the campus to watch other sports battles. The atmosphere was full of excitement, students were cheering, playing, and enjoying every match. It felt great to see everyone’s energy and school spirit come alive. The whole day was truly unforgettable. Supporting Aleina and experiencing the fun around the campus brought us closer as classmates. It was a celebration not just of talent, but also of us uniting as classmates and building a better friendship and atmospherefor all of us.

Cleaning Results to Greenery Thriving

Clean up drives play an important role in helping maintain cleanliness in our society. They're important for keeping our environment safe and thriving. By participating regularly in activities such as clean-up dives, we can help reduce pollution, ecosystems and natural habitats.       Proper waste management, like learning to reduce, reuse, recycle and properly disposing of our trash in the right bin, can help in maintaining our clean environment. If we practice these daily, we aren't just helping in making our community change for the better, we can help make changes in the world, reducing the effects of climate change, global warming, multiple pollutions and many more. If we all work together as one community, we can improve public health and well being, while also making our surroundings look better. By spreading awareness, we can encourage other to all help in improving our environment for other people also.      To sum i...

A Little Something About Me

Image
Hi ! I'm Mergene Yvez Rabuya but you can call me Mergene,Yvez, or just my nickname "Ivy". If you want , you can call me anything you want, just not Margarin, I've heard it enough. I was born on August 12, 2010 in Poblacion, San Vicente, Ilocos Sur.     A fun fact about me is that my first name, "Mergene" is the 'ship' name of  my mom and my dad. My father's name is Wil-"mer"(Wilmer) and my mom "Gen"-ilyn(Genilyn), they combined their names and added an "e" at the end and that's how they got my name. Though my name sounds or looks complicated, I'm a pretty simple girl with a normal life.     I'm not a poet, a writer, an artist, a singer, nor am I a teacher. But some of the things that interest me are writing, drawing, singing, teachding and taking care of kids. I like to express my emotions and ideas through my countless poems and paragraphs. I like art and making them. I like listening to people sing and ...

1st Quarter of 10th Grade

In the first quarter of grade 10, we dove into the discovery of how the internet started out. It was both fascinating and shocking because I've only realized that the Internet was created not long ago. We were also taught about blogs, what kinds, its different structures and many topics. We were tasked to make our own blogs which challenged both our creativity and writing skills.  The making of the blogs were quite difficult for me since the only type of technology I have for now is a phone and sometimes it's limited. But I try to think of ideas even without my phone and try to use my screen time efficiently. With these learnings and requirements, I try to dive deeper into the story of the internet and train my brain with its creativity and writing skills.   Images from: https://members.nast.ph/index.php/list-of-nast-members/details/1/110 https://www.vanslog.com/the-power-of-authentic-blogging/ https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2015/05/18/tomorrows-advance-man https://tecexpe...
